A Joppa man was arrested after deputies say he assaulted an elderly woman.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Jammie Dewayne Thompson was charged with elder abuse, domestic violence/burglary, and criminal trespass.
The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a residence in the 12000 block of Highway 67 in Joppa in reference to a domestic assault Sunday.
Once on the scene, deputies say an elderly woman was transported by ambulance to Cullman Hospital for treatment of a wound sustained from the assault.
On Monday, Thompson was identified as a suspect and warrants were obtained for his arrest.
Thompson was booked into the Morgan County Jail with bond set at $20,494.20.
