One man was arrested after deputies say he led multiple agencies on a high-speed chase in Morgan County and hit a deputy in the process.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Hartselle police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving erratically. Hartselle Police says they attempted to stop the vehicle about 9:47 a.m. The sheriff's office says the vehicle failed to stop and fled to Decatur, where he attempted to hit a Decatur police officer.
Deputies assisted as the pursuit continued back to Hartselle and Falkville, where the sheriff's office says the vehicle hit a deputy and attempted to hit numerous law enforcement vehicles.
The vehicle continued to flee along Highway 36, the sheriff's office says.Ìý
The pursuit finally came to a halt on Perkins Wood Road when Stone wrecked, thanks to the intervention of an officer from the Priceville Police Department.
The driver, Jackson Longfellow Stone, was subsequently apprehended and charged with attempting to elude a police officer by the Hartselle Police Department. He is also expected to face additional charges from multiple agencies involved in the chase.
Stone's bond was set at $100,000 due to multiple traffic violations, damaging multiple police vehicles, and law enforcement finding drugs in the vehicle, according to the Hartselle Police Department.Ìý
Participating in the effort to stop the driver were the Hartselle Police Department, Priceville Police Department, Decatur Police Department, Falkville Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
