HCFC falls to Columbus Crew 2

Huntsville, Ala. (March 30, 2024) – Huntsville City Football Club fell 4-3 against Columbus Crew 2 at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium despite Midfielder Jony Bolaños' second hat trick in club history.

The visitors got on the board first with a Christopher Rogers header from a corner kick in the eighth minute, and Brent Adu-Gyamfi doubled the lead three minutes later.

Huntsville got on the board late in the first half, when Bolaños received Joel Sangwa’s long ball and fired his shot into the far corner for his first goal of the season.

Bolaños equalized the match from the spot after he was fouled in the box in the 50th minute.

Former Boy in Blue Chris Pearson gave Columbus back the lead from the spot in the 56th minute, but Bolaños completed his hat trick two minutes later after Brennan Creek’s pass found him and he beat the keeper to the opposite corner.

Mohamed Saad gave Columbus the winning goal in the 68th minute.

The Boys in Blue will be back in action next Sunday, April 7 at Inter Miami CF II at 1 p.m. CT on MLS Season Pass on AppleTV. Huntsvilians will be able to watch the match at the official watch party at The Casual Pint.
