UPDATE: Coroner identifies worker killed after granite fell on him in Huntsville

One person is dead after a workplace incident, according to Don Webster with Huntsville Emergency Medical Services. 

Webster says granite fell on a worker Wednesday morning.

Madison County Coroner Dr. Tyler Berryhill has identified the victim as 32-year-old John Hopper. Berryhill says he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. as a result of injuries sustained when granite slabs fell on him.

The incident happened at 11309 South Memorial Parkway.

Huntsville police are investigating the incident.
