A walk isn't just good for your body, it's good for your soul. The American Heart Association said physical activity is one of the best ways to reduce stress and improve health, but recent studies show walking rates are declining across the U.S. - a trend health experts say can negatively impact our mental and physical health.

The American Heart Association walking for an average of 30 minutes or more a day can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke by 35 percent and Type 2 diabetes by 40 percent.

Wednesday, April 3 is National Walking Day. Â鶹app is encouraging you to take a walk either solo or with a friend to improve your heart health.

Also, mark your calendar to join the American Heart Association and its army of volunteers and heart survivors on Saturday, May 11 for the annual in Big Spring Park. Click to for the Huntsville Heart Walk or to donate.
